What IS artonot?

Welcome to Artonot, the only daily art blog you ever need to read
(and you’ll be a better person for doing so)

This website is the only place in the world where truth, and nothing but the truth, is exposed about current trends in art, architecture, sculpture, etc. We dare to say what others fear to utter about what art is or isn’t, and deliver the most insightful commentary about artistic trends on the internet.

According to dictionary.com, the primary definition of “art” is the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance.

The second definition of art is as follows: the class of objects subject to aesthetic criteria; works of art collectively, as paintings, sculptures, or drawings.

“artonot” is the gray area between ART and other things that people try to pass off as art, but which may not truly be so. Artonot is potentially synonymous with the more popular term “contemporary art”

Case in point: Rembrandt was an undisputed artist and he created ART. The following is an example of his work:

Rembrandts Abduction of Europa, 1632

On the other hand, the following is NOT art. It is merely a trash can. It serves a great functional purpose, but offers little cultural significance outside of storing trash. Some of the things you’ll see on our website may not even accomplish that much.

Everything in between is debatable, and this blog was created to facilitate that debate.
