Haitian Children’s Artwork

Posted in art on January 24th, 2010 by admin – 3 Comments

The recent earthquake left the city of Jacmel, unofficial “cultural capital” of Haiti, also known as the “City of Artists,” severely damaged. Many historic buildings and other pieces of fine art were damaged or completely destroyed. We feel for Haiti. Please share our support. There are many websites where you can help in restoring this cultural center of the ailing country by making a donation, or maybe even volunteering some of your time to help. Now we just wanted to share some of the original artwork produced there.

Mr. Elliott likes to burn things, in an artistic sort of way. I don’t know what to make of this, but check out his gallery to find out more.

We don’t expect to post much before January, but please feel free to send in Artonot suggestions if you find something quirky, so that we have some material to look over and post for when we get back from break :-)

Got nothing to do over Christmas? Why not check out some Art Museums for inspiration?!

An artist at 87 is still an artist… or is he?

A fellow Midwesterner Bill Hall is rediscovering a latent talent later in life. Original story by the Des Moines Register. I guess it’s never too late to start doodling, and get in touch with your inner artist! Way to go, Bill!

“He joined the Army, went to college, then got a master’s degree, became a partner in one of America’s most successful accounting firms, wrote a book on ethics in business and, a couple of years ago, moved to Iowa to be near his son.”

Goldman Sachs has an interesting taste in art

5 million dollars for this thing right here. I wonder if that even deserves to be called a work of art. But who am I to judge. I guess economy and the banking sector are turning around after all!
